Nowadays, it seems it is possible to have a allergic reaction to just about anything. Now there are women who have a allergic reactions to certain types of makeup. Because of the issues of having reactions and increasing sensitivity about what we put on our faces, has many women looking for alternative types of cosmetics that would not provoke an allergic reaction. That is why more and more women are opting for mineral powder makeup.
But even if mineral makeup is chemical and preservative free, it does not mean that users are safe from any allergic reactions. There are still brands that have ingredients that you might react to. Now it’s true that there are dermatologists who recommend mineral- power based makeup for their patients who have skin problems such as acne, or sensitive skin, rosacea and a few other skin issues. But this is not mean that all their patients would respond well to using mineral-based cosmetics. The reason why dermatologists recommend mineral makeup for those with sensitive skin is that is has zinc oxide which is a natural anti-inflammatory drug. This calms the skin making the skin look refreshed. Titanium dioxide is also present which protects the skin against the dangerous ultraviolet rays. Don’t forget that even though mineral foundation has a natural SPF in it, you still need to apply a moisturizer with SPF15 or higher.
With all the benefits and good things you can get from mineral makeup you should still be conscious when picking out the cosmetic brand that you would use. When you are choosing mineral-based makeup whether it be foundation or eye shadows you really need to take a good look at the ingredient list. Remember mineral makeup is going to be made from pure crushed minerals. The “true” mineral makeup will only have 4 or 5 ingredients. There are mineral makeup and there are mineral-based makeup.
Watch for the difference when choosing what you want to use. The more pure it is, the better chances of you not having a allergic reaction to it. By reading the label and getting to know what ingredients cause you to react badly too, it makes it easier to pick out ones that will be good for you. If the label does not have this information, then it’s a brand you do not really want to be using.
Common cases of allergies attributed to mineral makeup is almost always connected to bismuth oxycholoride. Why? Because its not truly a natural ingredient. What this mineral is a product of lead, copper and other metals. It is included often in the makeup because it provides a certain shine.
The downside is that bismuth oxycloride tends to enter the skin pores and block your pores. This is what can cause your skin to react badly. That is why some women who use mineral makeup complain that their face is itchy and becomes blotchy.
Carmine, which is also a mineral often, used in mineral based cosmetics, can also cause allergies. If you have sensitive skin and you noticed that carmine is a part of the ingredient list, then it would be better to consider another product. Carmine comes from the shells of cochineal beetles.
The shells are crushed and it becomes a red pigment. This red pigment is used to help provide color in cosmetics. Most reds & pinks have Carmine in them. If you are wearing a blush that has it, and your face starts to break out, this maybe one of the reasons. What can happen is your allergic symptoms can show up as an itchy patch of skin, scaly skin, or sometimes even bumps on the skin. There are studies showing that there are 10 percent of the population shows some type of allergic reactions to cosmetics. ( I have found that I react to carmine in whiteheads, and bumps on my cheeks)
Once you have noticed that you have an allergic reaction, stop using all the mineral-based makeup that you have. Then after the allergy has subsided, try using them one by one. Sometimes what you are reacting to can be caused by the combination of brands.
By doing this, you would identify which brand of mineral makeup is triggering the reaction. If the symptoms would not go away even if you have stopped using the product, then it would be for the best to consult a dermatologist or your doctor.

When I buy cookies I just eat four and throw the rest away. But first I spray them with Raid so I won't dig them out of the garbage later. Be careful, though, because that Raid really doesn't taste that bad

Facials are one of the most common types of skincare. Its important to give yourself a facial because your face is always exposed to the environment and everyone sees your face.
A spa facial is more than just cleansing your skin, it softens your skin and withthe massage that you receive, it helps with tension as well. A spa facial gives you relief from the tension you feel in your forehead, around your eyes and mouthwhich can have a relaxing effect on your whole body.
Spa facials generally include no less than five steps:
Cleansing
Exfoliating
Mask
Massage
Moisturizing.
To give yourself a spa style facial at home you need to get together all the ingredients you want to be using. Pick a facial cleanser that is most suited for your skin type. Choose a organic/natural cleanser will treat your skin better than anything you can buy that is mass marketed.
You can create your own exfoliants from certain fruits and other products you may have in your kitchen.
Papaya is a natural exfoliant when its mashed together with a tsp. of honey. It may also irritate your skin so please test first.
To create a tightening mask you will need a clay or clay like product. For a soothing and nourishing mask try dry milk powder, mixed with lemon, honey and oatmeal enough ofeach to create a paste.
Mashed bananas and avocados have a natural oil making them great for moisturizing masks. For dry skin mash enough ripe avocado to make 2 tsp. and blend it with 1 tsp honey. Spread over all your face avoiding your eye area and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
For exfoliating, moisturizing mask and may prevent acne scarring, try wheat germ! For dry skin you will need:
1 tsp wheat germ
2 tsp honey
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp almond oil enough to create a paste. Gently massage into your face and neck avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 10 minutes then go onto your next step in your spa style facial at home. Extra tip about wheat germ, to help reduce possible scarring caused by severe acne try massaging a few drops of wheat germ oil into your skin after cleansing. Do it every night.
You will want to experiment first to make sure you are not sensitive to any of the ingredients you have in mind to use. Like wraps and scrubs, a facial should be done no more than once a week.
Great skin always has a healthy looking glow that reflects the time and effort you devote to it.Anyone who wants to maintain a healthy looking glow to their skin can benefit by giving yourself a spa style facial at home. Twenty-five percent of all adult men and fifty percent of all adult women suffer from some form of acne. These are the facts did you know that many adults have had at least one acne flare up in their adult life? As we age from teens to adults many of us stop having acne. Unfortunately that is not true for all adults. There are some who can develop acne well into adulthood- twenties, thirties and forties and beyond. No acne is pleasant at any age but somehow adult acne seems to be the worse than the acne type typically thought of as just a adolescence problem. In reality adult acne, or any acne for that matter, is very hard to deal with.
The causes of adult acne are different for all people and the treatments vary as much as the causes do. Most adult acne can be treated and managed effectively.
The appropriate adult pimple treatment may involve balancing your hormones, which typically requires a trip to your healthcare provider or dermatologist for some testing to conclude that hormones are indeed the problem. The many causes of adult acne and as well as teen acne include hormone imbalance, diet, genetics, vitamin deficiency, stress, and more. The problem is generally caused by sebum. Sebum is the term used by dermatologists for the oil that is produced in the skin and secreted through the pores, it’s when these pores get clogged with a combination of sebum and dead skin cells you get pimples, whitehead and blackheads. As we age, these oil surpluses cause by our hormones can become the biggest cause of clogged pores and hair follicles, which results in bacteria growth and acne pimples and blemishes.
Once a person becomes an adult there are many things that can throw our hormones out of balance and in turn wreak havoc on our skin. Some things that cause such imbalances are stress, puberty, pregnancy, menopause and many other things that cause hormones to flare up.
Acne that is caused by hormones is typically more prevalent in women during natural cycles like menstruation, pregnancy and menopause. Also makeup can cause acne so look for cosmetics that are labeled as non-comedogenic and try to use skincare products that are natural as possible.
Treatment for adult acne is very effective and there are many forms of treatment available.
The best treatment happens to be the same treatment recommended most for teenage acne. Benzoyl peroxide kills acne much better than any other acne medication out there on the market today, including all prescription medications. For this product to be effective an acne sufferer must use enough of the product and use it according to the given instructions. If used correctly it will help your acne to clear up. This method of treatment is also very simple and is not evasive in any way.
Exfoliation by using a gentle facial scrub following up with a deep cleansing mask can also help to remove the dead skin cells. An exfoliating scrub removes dead skin, dirt and other impurities which in turn can clog pores and cause blemishes. Avoid scrubbing too hard because it can cause more problems than be helpful.
It is important to realize that adult acne is more common than most think and adult sufferers are not alone, there is a large population of adult acne sufferers.
If you have adult acne and it is severe or causes you pain do not hesitate to talk to your healthcare provider and discuss possible medical treatment of your acne.
