Your skin is a delicate organ and needs to be kept in balance to look good. You need to look after your skin in order to look your best. Here are 7 tips to help you do this.
1. Consider your skin type:
a. Oily: if you have oily skin you should be careful to use light makeup and clean your face well before you go to bed.
b. Dry: try to use a good moisturizer. Dry skin can also be quite sensitive so natural makeup is often the best choice.
c. Neutral: Neutral skin is good but you may also find you have patches of oily skin around the nose. This can easily be taken care of by cleaning this area well with basic soap and water.
2. Your skin tone: choose basic make up that will compliment your skin tone. If you have a pale complexion you can use warmer colors like brown instead of black mascara and a little brown eyeliner. Pink lipstick and lip gloss will bring some warm color to your lips. Use some light eye shadow to bring out your eyes. Light blusher will add some color to your face. If you are dark complexioned you can use brighter colors as light ones will not be very effective. You can try using a bronze foundation to set off your skin tone.
3. The role of vitamin E and diet: diet is very important for a healthy body and skin. “You are what you eat” is very appropriate for your skin. Try to eat a healthy diet with less junk food and refined sugar. Whole grains are better than refined foods and have less additives and chemicals in them. Try to eat more fruits and vegetables as these have valuable vitamins and minerals for your skin. They also have vitamin E and antitoxins which are good for your skin.
4. Water: always drink as much water as you can. Try to replace sodas and sugared juices with water. It will help to keep your skin smooth and hydrated. It will also flush away toxins from the skin and keeps your skin looking clear and fresh.
5. Anti wrinkle creams: Be careful when you use these creams as all of them are not what they say they are. The best ones are those using natural ingredients. When you use these types of anti wrinkle creams you will have less reactions and side effects. Read ingredients carefully and always try a patch test when using new products.
6. Cleansers Moisturizers: You should always wash your face every morning and evening. If soap dries your face you can use a natural face wash or moisturizer after washing. It is important not to use too many chemicals and cleansers on your face. This area of your skin is very delicate and easy to misbalance. A mild soap should be sufficient to keep your face clean. A daily bath or bathing on alternate days will keep your whole body skin clean. If you suffer from dry skin bathing every other day will stop your skin from drying out.
7. Sunlight: 10 to 15 minutes in the early part of the day will help your skin. If you are going to spend more time outside, especially if you are near the water, always protect your skin with sun screen. Olive oil works well as a natural sun screen.

Every woman would like to be beautiful. When was the last time you looked at a model and thought, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be born beautiful, like that?”
Did you know that most women we deem beautiful, either in the movies or up on the catwalk, are not born beautiful? They’ve just learned how to make the most of their “natural resources” to create their own individual illusion of beauty.
Here are a few of their beauty secrets you can make into your own.
Most models have always been admired for the youthful naturalness of their beauty. The basic reason is that they have found their foundation and makeup colors that are the key to their beauty. Wouldn’t you like to know what color works best for your skin?
To help you draw out your natural beauty, each person has colors that will work for their skin tone, and their skin tone alone – what a beauty secret that would be! Just think, and I’m sure that you see this all the time, what the wrong color foundation does to one’s natural beauty.
Here is what a famous modeling agency has to say – “The wrong color foundation makes any woman look older, unattractive, obviously “made up”. Yet most women today do use the wrong shade because they must choose it by guess work, and because cosmetic lines only offer a limited number of colors, recommended according to some vague grouping of hair or skin coloring.”
(Quoted from John Robert Powers, creator of the Powers Modeling Agency in the 1950s.)
What do you do then to find the color of foundation that works for you?
Just think as an artist prepares a canvas with a special natural wash before starting on his masterpiece – you must set the stage for your makeup. By wearing foundation, it smooths out the texture and evens out the tone. Some models have someone who can tell them what color they need and away they go. It’s not that simple for the rest of us.
The key to a natural look is to find that one distinct color out of hundreds that fits you. For starters, if this is your first time wanting to try mineral foundations, ask the website owner if she will sell you
samples of the colors she offers. Most will, and that would be the best way to try mineral foundations. I recommend that if you are shopping, first go to a department store that has samples of their colors. Foundation in a bottle sold at the drugstore is not going to be very helpful. To start judging what color would be best, try 3 or 4 side by side on the back of your hand. It’s not the best place for final
decisions, but it is a very helpful place to start narrowing down the colors that might work first.
After choosing a few you feel might work, now is the time to try the foundation on your face. The best place to try is along your jawbone.
If it looks like you are adding color because the foundation is too dark, go lighter. If the color looks unnatural, it’s going to make you look older, and that is not what you want. Actually, what you are
looking for is a shade of foundation that is just a smidgen lighter than your skin because it will make you look younger.
Take three colors of foundation you think may work and apply three thin stripes along your jaw line with downward strokes. Take the time to wait to see what each color looks like when it is dry – if possible, and this would be the best way to judge – look at the three stripes in natural light. You will know right away which color is wrong by how it just “sits” on your skin. Standing out against the other two tells you that it is not the color for you.
If the color of foundation is right, it will almost blend right into your skin with the edges almost gone. If none are right, then try until you find the right one.
Once you feel you have it, remove all three and apply the color again along your jawbone, but take time to blend it in. It should be imperceptible. Now, if possible, try that color of foundation all over your face as the final test. If, after one hour, it still looks great, you have the right one. If it has become chalky looking, it is probably too light, and that means that it is back to the three stripe test again.
You also need to know the types of foundation there are. Foundation comes in four basic formulas – mineral, water-based, oil-based, and oil fill.
How to tell which foundation type is best is another article by itself. Again, the best formula is the only one that works with your skin, not against it. There is more to foundation than meets the eye. By testing
it, you can find the best color for you. And knowing your skin type will tell you which formula to use.

This is a two part series on what you need for caring for your skin the best way possible. Not many care for their skin, taking care of it takes time and not many really know or understand what that might take. Here is a quick run down of what you will need, to help your skin stay looking as young as possible.

Basics of Skincare -Tools of the Trade
Did you know for basic skincare the magic number is four? There are three basic steps you do twice a day and one step you do twice a week at most.
The three basic everyday skincare needs are:
1- cleansing
2- toners
3- moisturizers
4- would be your specialty products such as mud masks, exfoliation for example.
What are cleansers?
These are specialty formulated products meant to remove grime, and makeup from your skin, without over-drying it. They clean off old makeup, dirt, oils. They come in different types, creams, lotions, gels and bars of soap. Cleansing with a bar soap is one of the oldest most efficient cleanser, but it may not be the best for your skin. Creams and lotions are easy to use; just massage into your skin to lift dirt and remove with warm water or tissue it off.
What are toners, fresheners, astringents?
They are specialty formulated liquids mostly with alcohol as one of the main ingredient. Alcohol is usually the active ingredient in toners; it makes your skin feel fresh and cool because it evaporates quickly. It can also temporarily minimize your pores by plumping up the skin around them. The percentage of alcohol differs from product to product. In fact you may find that astringent, toners, and fresheners as part of the label for the same product. The three are pretty much interchangeable in meaning as well as product.
There are a few differences to point out, astringents usually have the highest percentage of alcohol and mostly used for acne care. There are water-based toners that are formulated especially for mature skin or any skin type that cannot tolerate the over-drying that alcohol can do. When checking labels, look for products where the word alcohol is closest to the last on the list of ingredients.
