Nowadays, it seems it is possible to have a allergic reaction to just about anything. Now there are women who have a allergic reactions to certain types of makeup. Because of the issues of having reactions and increasing sensitivity about what we put on our faces, has many women looking for alternative types of cosmetics that would not provoke an allergic reaction. That is why more and more women are opting for mineral powder makeup.
But even if mineral makeup is chemical and preservative free, it does not mean that users are safe from any allergic reactions. There are still brands that have ingredients that you might react to. Now it’s true that there are dermatologists who recommend mineral- power based makeup for their patients who have skin problems such as acne, or sensitive skin, rosacea and a few other skin issues. But this is not mean that all their patients would respond well to using mineral-based cosmetics. The reason why dermatologists recommend mineral makeup for those with sensitive skin is that is has zinc oxide which is a natural anti-inflammatory drug. This calms the skin making the skin look refreshed. Titanium dioxide is also present which protects the skin against the dangerous ultraviolet rays. Don’t forget that even though mineral foundation has a natural SPF in it, you still need to apply a moisturizer with SPF15 or higher.
With all the benefits and good things you can get from mineral makeup you should still be conscious when picking out the cosmetic brand that you would use. When you are choosing mineral-based makeup whether it be foundation or eye shadows you really need to take a good look at the ingredient list. Remember mineral makeup is going to be made from pure crushed minerals. The “true” mineral makeup will only have 4 or 5 ingredients. There are mineral makeup and there are mineral-based makeup.
Watch for the difference when choosing what you want to use. The more pure it is, the better chances of you not having a allergic reaction to it. By reading the label and getting to know what ingredients cause you to react badly too, it makes it easier to pick out ones that will be good for you. If the label does not have this information, then it’s a brand you do not really want to be using.
Common cases of allergies attributed to mineral makeup is almost always connected to bismuth oxycholoride. Why? Because its not truly a natural ingredient. What this mineral is a product of lead, copper and other metals. It is included often in the makeup because it provides a certain shine.
The downside is that bismuth oxycloride tends to enter the skin pores and block your pores. This is what can cause your skin to react badly. That is why some women who use mineral makeup complain that their face is itchy and becomes blotchy.
Carmine, which is also a mineral often, used in mineral based cosmetics, can also cause allergies. If you have sensitive skin and you noticed that carmine is a part of the ingredient list, then it would be better to consider another product. Carmine comes from the shells of cochineal beetles.
The shells are crushed and it becomes a red pigment. This red pigment is used to help provide color in cosmetics. Most reds & pinks have Carmine in them. If you are wearing a blush that has it, and your face starts to break out, this maybe one of the reasons. What can happen is your allergic symptoms can show up as an itchy patch of skin, scaly skin, or sometimes even bumps on the skin. There are studies showing that there are 10 percent of the population shows some type of allergic reactions to cosmetics. ( I have found that I react to carmine in whiteheads, and bumps on my cheeks)
Once you have noticed that you have an allergic reaction, stop using all the mineral-based makeup that you have. Then after the allergy has subsided, try using them one by one. Sometimes what you are reacting to can be caused by the combination of brands.
By doing this, you would identify which brand of mineral makeup is triggering the reaction. If the symptoms would not go away even if you have stopped using the product, then it would be for the best to consult a dermatologist or your doctor.

Ever wonder why organic products are on the rise? And why more and more beauty products are coming out as ‘natural & or organic’? Reasoning is because we are finding as women there are a lot of ingredients in our beauty products we don’t want to be using on our bodies.
Chemical-free skincare products are increasing as women are discovering just what they want and don’t want to put onto our bodies. We are discovering more each day that there are natural alternatives to using man-made chemicals.
These chemicals such as parabens, petrochemicals, silicone and foaming agents such as sodium laurylsulphate. You will find these ingredients can be found in a lot of everyday products such as shampoos, body washes and liquid hand soaps. More reasoning to move to using more natural and organic products because its estimated that our skin may absorb over half of what we put onto it.
Did you know its possible that we might be using up to 200 different chemicals a day in just our daily skincare regime? Ways to cut this down is to start looking into more organic beauty products with less ingredients.
Did you know that there are now more natural ingredients being tested that can give you the instant results once only done by chemicals? Start checking out looking for ingredients in your beauty products such as essential oils, oak extracts, green and or white teas, chamomile and rose waters just for starters.
For makeup such as eye shadows, blushes, and foundations start looking into mineral lines. But be aware that some foundations have ingredients that are not natural. Again look for mineral products with the least number of ingredients. Not all organic makeup is truly organic but most mineral makeup is. Using only mineral pigments, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide they are also non-comedogenic and won’t clog your pores. There are multiple number of companies online and off that offer mineral makeup now.
Mineral makeup is free of parabens, artificial colors, silicones and are fragrance-free. By using mineral makeup that comes in less packaging also helps reduce your carbon footprint overall.
As we as consumers start making demands for more choices about our cosmetics being more organic, beauty companies are starting to take notice. From sulfate free shampoo’s to organic body care and food, as we speak up against chemicals in our daily beauty needs things are slowly being to change.
Going green in a whole is not as hard as one thinks, just start thinking about ways that you yourself can help use more organic beauty products in your everyday beauty needs.

Everyone loves a list of tips right? Here is 8 tips to help keep your skin looking younger and its best!
1~When you go out you should use a natural sunscreen to protect your skin against harmful UV rays.
2~Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and stop you from squinting against the sun. When you crease up your eyes you will get those crows feet. You can also wear a broad brim hat.
3~Keep your skin hydrated: this will make it suppler and less inclined to get damaged and wrinkle. You can do this by drinking plenty of water and using a moisturizer.
4~Avoid tanning beds: a tan can be beautiful but not from a tanning bed. These are extremely harmful to your skin and should be used very sparingly if you want to preserve your skin.
5~Lipstick: is great for your lips and will keep them soft and supple.
6~Sleep: remember to get enough sleep. This will help reduce those dark shadows under your eyes. It will also help you to maintain your overall health and that of your skin.
7~Nutrition: You are what you eat and this applies particularly to your skin. If you eat more whole grain products and less refined foods you will get more nutrition and less digestive problems. Fruits and vegetables are very important because of the vitamins and minerals that they provide. Vitamins and minerals are very important to healthy skin. Vitamin E, A and C are especially good as they reverse the aging process in your skin. Cutting out refined sugar and junk food will also improve the health of your skin.
8~Try to use natural make up: some of the chemicals that are in make up would really make you shudder if you knew what they were and if you do not you should not be putting them on your face. Always remove your make up before you sleep to let your skin breathe and prevent the pores from clogging.
