Your skin is your greatest asset but people tend to take it for granted. In order to retain your youthful skin it is necessary to take care of it from day one. Unfortunately many people put their skin through so much abuse that they look prematurely old by their 40’s and 50’s. Wrinkles are a part of growing old gracefully but you can do a lot to reduce them and prevent your skin from aging.
Weather: the sun and wind are great enemies of your skin and will create all sorts of wrinkles and crevices in your skin, but you can do something about it.
• When you go out you should use a natural sunscreen to protect your skin against harmful UV rays.
• Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and stop you from squinting against the sun. When you crease up your eyes you will get those crows feet. You can also wear a broad brim hat.

There is no way to count how many kinds of skincare creams and lotions are on the market. Name an ailment, and you will find hundreds of skincare creams, lotions and other types products that work along with it. As a result of ongoing research and due to ever increasing demand, the number of skincare products seems to be on the increase. Skincare lotions and skincare creams are the most popular forms in which these products are available, and there always seems to be a debate on which form is better?
Well, really there is no definitive answer to this. It seems to come down to a matter of personal choice. However, greasy creams are surely less popular as compared to the non-greasy (or less greasy) ones. Not all creams are greasy, it will always depend on the brand of choice. Since the application of skincare lotions is easier, they could be seem to be preferred (over creams). Most creams come in a jar where as lotions come usually in a bottle with a pump.
Creams are known to be most effective in keeping skin moist; hence, the most popular form of skincare creams is moisturisers. Due to the same reason, a lot of people tend to associate skincare creams with caring for one’s skin. One of the problems that creams in a jar have that lotions to due not is application, you are sticking your fingers into the jar each time you use it, and in doing so you are putting whatever is on your fingers into the jar. That is why many high price brands will give you a spoon of some type to get the cream out of the jar with. That way you don’t put anything into the jar that isn’t clean. It helps also with getting you just enough to apply to your skin.
Lotions come with a pump most often. Making it easier to get it out of the bottle and you don’t put your fingers into it. A good example is The Skin Society skincare moisturisers.

Skincare lotions are also used for products that cater to skin disorders especially for disorders that require the application of product over a small localised area. This is again due to the fact that skincare lotions are easier to apply (without wastage) on the affected area.
Eye creams and anti-aging creams are other examples where skincare cream is preferred over its lotion counterpart.
Mostly due to the ingredients used and the factor of cost.
Whatever your choice be (cream or lotion), knowing how to use it effectively, is more important than anything else.

When taking care of your skin there are three steps, cleansing, exfoliate, and then moisturize. This article talks about exfoliate and why it is so good for your skin.
There are many ways to help you skin look and feel healthier. One of those ways is to exfoliate. Exfoliation will aide in the removal of dead skin cells and residue that is on the surface of your skin.
There are several ways that you can exfoliate; however, you need to make sure that you are careful in how you handle exfoliation as sometimes it can do more harm than good.
A dull complexion is often caused by dead skin cells, grime and residue that lie on the surface of the skin. Exfoliation can remove these and in turn give you healthier younger glowing looking skin.
When you are exfoliating the skin on your face, you need to exercise extra caution that you do not use products that are harsh. If you have sensitive skin, keep an eye out for any reddening of the skin. If it appears, then you will need to stop immediately. Look for products that offer coca and luffa powders and or jojoba beads. They are less abrasive because they contain smaller, rounder exfoliating pieces. What you might use on your body will be too rough to be using on your face, so be sure that your exfoliation scrub is meant for face or body.
A face cloth is the most suitable to use because it will clean the skin on your face but it is gentle enough to not irritate or cause problems with most skin types. It is not recommended to use exfoliating brushes or loofahs on your face. These are more suitable for the skin on other areas of your body that can withstand harsher abrasions. Dry brushing is also used as a way to exfoliate your body.
There are also natural exfoliants that can be used and are very effective. While they don’t provide the instant effects of some of the chemical exfoliants or brushes, they do an equally good job over an extended period of time. One of the most popular ingredients in the natural products is papaya. There are natural and exotic particles used in scrubs from plant seeds and shells as many companies are going for the greener ingredients in their product lines.
Body scrubs aid in sloughing dead cells and encouraging the growth of healthy, new skin. By helping the body remove the dead cells by using a body scrub, it will naturally reproduce younger ones to reveal glowing, healthy beautiful skin. There are sugar scrubs, salt scrubs as well as a mix of both in a oil base. It’s the oil base that offer skin-conditioning as well as cleansing.
Body scrubs are also used as a pretreatment for tanning or massage to help remove the dead, dry surface skin cells. If you are spending good money on tanning or using self tanners, by exfoliating you are helping your tan last longer. Just note that after tanning do not use a scrub of any kind, as you will just remove the tan faster.

Your skin is a delicate organ and needs to be kept in balance to look good. You need to look after your skin in order to look your best. Here are 7 tips to help you do this.
1. Consider your skin type:
a. Oily: if you have oily skin you should be careful to use light makeup and clean your face well before you go to bed.
b. Dry: try to use a good moisturizer. Dry skin can also be quite sensitive so natural makeup is often the best choice.
c. Neutral: Neutral skin is good but you may also find you have patches of oily skin around the nose. This can easily be taken care of by cleaning this area well with basic soap and water.
2. Your skin tone: choose basic make up that will compliment your skin tone. If you have a pale complexion you can use warmer colors like brown instead of black mascara and a little brown eyeliner. Pink lipstick and lip gloss will bring some warm color to your lips. Use some light eye shadow to bring out your eyes. Light blusher will add some color to your face. If you are dark complexioned you can use brighter colors as light ones will not be very effective. You can try using a bronze foundation to set off your skin tone.
3. The role of vitamin E and diet: diet is very important for a healthy body and skin. “You are what you eat” is very appropriate for your skin. Try to eat a healthy diet with less junk food and refined sugar. Whole grains are better than refined foods and have less additives and chemicals in them. Try to eat more fruits and vegetables as these have valuable vitamins and minerals for your skin. They also have vitamin E and antitoxins which are good for your skin.
4. Water: always drink as much water as you can. Try to replace sodas and sugared juices with water. It will help to keep your skin smooth and hydrated. It will also flush away toxins from the skin and keeps your skin looking clear and fresh.
5. Anti wrinkle creams: Be careful when you use these creams as all of them are not what they say they are. The best ones are those using natural ingredients. When you use these types of anti wrinkle creams you will have less reactions and side effects. Read ingredients carefully and always try a patch test when using new products.
6. Cleansers Moisturizers: You should always wash your face every morning and evening. If soap dries your face you can use a natural face wash or moisturizer after washing. It is important not to use too many chemicals and cleansers on your face. This area of your skin is very delicate and easy to misbalance. A mild soap should be sufficient to keep your face clean. A daily bath or bathing on alternate days will keep your whole body skin clean. If you suffer from dry skin bathing every other day will stop your skin from drying out.
7. Sunlight: 10 to 15 minutes in the early part of the day will help your skin. If you are going to spend more time outside, especially if you are near the water, always protect your skin with sun screen. Olive oil works well as a natural sun screen.
